The internet has no shortage of self-appointed experts and armchair execs who possess insight as to why GM went from industry leader to bankruptcy over the course of 35 years, myself included, so I will spare thee the reader from captain hindsight and his ilk.
I don't know what the below video says about GM's future, not that since the bailout GM's future is much in dispute, but I associate both feelings of optimism and pessimism with the fact that this video is 20 years old--optimism because of the skill and talent exhibited by GM's design team, and pessimism because a concept from 20 years ago remains today so far from fruition and already in production at the same time:
Regardless, there is a lot to like about this video, from predictions of the future that are comically wrong, to the signature 1990's early airbag steering wheel, to the reference of the Chevy Corsica's interior volume (when's the last time you saw one of those!?), to the amazing feat of the car itself. Be sure to read the Youtube uploader's comments as it sheds further light into the concept, and notes its appearance in Judge Dredd (1995).
Unfortunately, the Ultralite does not appear in the below music video, but it's awesome nonetheless for its stupid on point lyrics and footage of an exploding futuristic Countach @ 2:06 with authentic 1980's Lamborghini build quality:
